Alternative completion methods of implementation
According to Laurea's degree regulations, 'All students have the right to demonstrate their competence. The initiative for the recognition and validation of acquired competence is made by the student. Competence is recognized and validated by the teacher responsible for the course or another designated person. The assessment follows the same criteria and, as a rule, the same grading scale as in the corresponding course or module. Students have the right to apply for the recognition of competence, regardless of where, how, and when the competence was acquired. Students can also apply for the recognition of competence acquired in the workplace as part of their degree (workplace learning recognition). The student is responsible for demonstrating, proving, and providing sufficient information about their competence. The competence is assessed by the student and the supervisor receiving the demonstration (Haavi group in Tikkurila) together. For more information, please refer to the student intranet.
Important dates
"In the orientation session (Zoom) on May 13, 2024, attendance is mandatory. Canvas assignment submission dates: I on June 7, 2024, II on July 19, 2024, and III on July 31, 2024.
In accordance with Section 18 of the degree regulations, 'The student must be present at the first contact session or inform the responsible teacher of their absence to confirm their participation in the studies. Alternatively, the teacher may specify another way for the student to confirm their participation in the implementation. These actions may be required within a week of the start of the implementation. As presented above, the application of this procedure requires that the teacher informs the accepted students about the practice and that the practice is stated in the implementation plan of the course. If a student is unable to attend the first contact session for justified reasons or to engage in studies according to the conditions set by the teacher, they must contact the responsible teacher to arrange participation in the implementation. Registration will be rejected if the student does not report their absence from the initial session or if the reason for the absence cannot be considered justified. The next student in line may be admitted in their place.' A student who has not confirmed their participation in the manner described above will be removed from the Canvas learning environment on May 20, 2024.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Assessment of competence is based on the curriculum's target descriptions, and the level of competence is evaluated according to the assessment criteria specified in the course implementation plan (Laurea Degree Regulations).
The course is at the level of requirements for a university of applied sciences (AMK) degree, level 1.
Throughout the studies, you will accumulate points from assessed tasks, from which the overall grade (T1-K5) for the course will be formed.
Accumulative assessment allows you to attempt tasks a maximum of three times, thereby allowing you to increase points by retrying. The highest score will be retained. The exception is the online discussion, which you can submit only once, but in this task, you can earn additional points by providing an additional presentation and commenting on two extra presentations, in addition to the required presentation and two comments. The teacher will assess online discussions. You can track your point accumulation and grade formation on the Grades page.
The course will be graded on a scale of T1-K5.
Grade T1 requires that the student achieves at least 50% of the total points.
Tasks are weighted as follows:
Sexuality 30%
Sexual and Reproductive Health 35%
Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Postpartum Period 35%
The implementation method of the course is evaluated using quality criteria for teaching.
A student who has not completed the required tasks or exams to pass the course must supplement or retake their performance in a manner and within a timeframe determined by the course teacher. The course will be marked as failed (HYL) if the student does not meet the set passing criteria (Laurea Degree Regulations).
All Laurea participants are expected to adhere to good scientific practices, including proper referencing. Familiarize yourself with and inquire about practices when needed. All study tasks are to be done individually unless otherwise instructed. Regarding the use of the original work, the teacher will provide specific instructions during the task assessment.
The assessment of the course utilizes the criteria of competence assessment framework level II for university of applied sciences students.
Evaluation criteria, fail (0)
The completion of the course is considered failed if the student does not achieve the set passing criteria.
Evaluation criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The presentation has been addressed in general terms according to the task content, but the analysis does not progress systematically or logically, resulting in an incomplete treatment of the topic. The comments do not demonstrate a thorough understanding of the presentation, and a new perspective has not been clearly presented. Grade T1 requires that the student achieves at least 50% of the total points.
Evaluation criteria, good (3-4)
The presentation demonstrates a good understanding of the phenomenon under examination, and the focus of the analysis is well-defined. The response forms a fairly logical whole. The nursing method is described in the response, and its significance is justified with reference to sources. The comments introduce a new perspective and provide justification based on evidence-based information.
Evaluation criteria, excellent (5)
The presentation demonstrates commendable familiarity with the phenomenon under examination, and the scope of the analysis is well-defined. The response is a logical, well-structured, and justified whole, showing the ability to compare and select relevant information appropriately. The nursing method is described in an exemplary manner, and its significance is well-justified with references. The comments introduce an exemplary new perspective and are substantiated with evidence-based information.
