The student is able to
- evaluate and enhance the client’s participation and physical activity in a variety of environments
- adapt the variety of methods of physiotherapeutic advising, guidance, therapeutic exercises, and health promotion for clients of different ages
- guide appropriate applied physical activity services to the client
- co-operate in a multidisciplinary context with other service providers and persons in the field of adapted physical activities.

Toteutustapa

A Canvas learning environment is used to support the implementation, but it is important to take part in teaching and guidance on campus according to schedule. Attendance in the workshops is 100%. The study unit includes working in pairs or groups. You will receive individual feedback for assignments from the teacher and working life or peer feedback may also be utilized.

All students are entitled to demonstrate their competence. The recognition and accreditation of prior competence is initiated by the students themselves. The competence is recognized and accredited by the teacher responsible for the studies. The assessment is carried out according to the same assessment criteria and, as a rule, same grading scale as that adopted for the corresponding study unit or module. The student is entitled to apply for accreditation of prior competence regardless of where, how and when the competence has been acquired. The student may also seek accreditation of competence to be acquired on the job as part of their degree (work-based learning). The student is responsible for demonstrating and verifying their competence and for providing sufficient information.

According to the degree regulations (section 18) “students must be present in the first contact session or notify their teacher in charge if they cannot attend. If they fail to notify the teacher of their absence in the first contact session, their enrollment will be rejected. Another student in the queue may be enrolled in the study unit in the place of the absent student.” (Laurea degree regulations) In the case of online studies the lecturer can also specify some other way than participation on an online meeting what is required from the student so that he/she verifies his/her attendance on the study unit (Decision by the vice president, education 7/2019).

The study unit corresponds to the requirements of Bachelor's level education.

The completion of these measures can be required within a week of the studies having begun. The evaluation of competence is based on the descriptions of objectives in the curricula, and the level of competence is assessed according to the evaluation criteria listed in the implementation plan for the studies.” (Laurea degree regulations)

Study unit includes:
1. Workshop assignments (fail / pass)
2. Basics in adapted physical activity (Individual assignment) (1-5)
3. Utilizing the services and assistive devices of adapted physical activity in physiotherapy (Group assignment) (1-5)

In this study unit the assessing of the competences will be done by using the criteria set for requirement level I.

Student who has failed to demonstrate his/her competence in accordance with the approved level must supplement or retake their study attainment in a manner and schedule defined by the teacher of the study unit. Laurea provides examination retake dates. Students must register for these examinations no later than 10 days before the retake date. A failed exam or other study attainment can be retaken twice. A failure to attend an actual examination is considered to be one completion attempt." (Laurea degree regulations.)

All staff and students of Laurea are expected to adhere to good scientific practices, which includes appropriate referencing. Familiarize yourself with the practices and, if needed, ask for more information. All study assignments are to be done as individual work unless otherwise instructed.

Day-time education:

The implementation of the study is supported by the learning environment built in Canvas, but it is important for the learning to participate in the on-campus teaching and supervision according to the schedule.

The study includes pair or group work in biomechanics and exercise physiology workshops.

Group feedback is given on the exams and, if the student so wishes, personal feedback by the teacher.

In accordance with § 18 of the degree regulations, "the student must be present at the first contact or inform the responsible teacher of his absence in order to confirm his participation in the study. Alternatively, the teacher can also specify another way for the student to confirm his participation in the implementation. These actions may be required within a week of the start of implementation. In accordance with the above, the application of the method of operation requires that the teacher informs the students approved for the implementation about the practice and that the practice is described in the Study Implementation Plan. Contact teaching and workshops as well as preparation for exams correspond to the workload of a 5 ECTS (approx. 133 h) for the student.

The course includes studies on the basic concepts of the nervous system, the connection between muscle function and the nervous system, and the basics of the functioning of the body system under load. In addition, in the Study Course, various measuring methods used by physiotherapists in their future work are practiced.

Competence assessment focuses on the goal descriptions of the curricula, and the level of competence is assessed based on the evaluation criteria stated in the Study Implementation Plan (Laurea's degree regulations).

A student who has not completed the tasks or exams set to pass the course must supplement or renew his/her performance in the manner specified by the teacher of the study course and within the time specified by the teacher. A failed exam or other performance can be renewed twice. Not participating in the actual exam is counted as one performance. (Laurea degree rules.)

All employees of Laurea are expected to follow good scientific practices, which includes proper referencing of sources. Familiarize yourself and ask about practices if necessary. All study assignments are done as individual work, unless otherwise instructed in the assignment. The student is able to:
- apply in a client-centred manner the information gained in the examination and assessment of the client’s functioning in clinical reasoning in physiotherapy
- draw up a physiotherapy diagnosis for the client
- apply creative problem solution when preparing the objectives and the plan for the physiotherapy process
- assess the client’s physiotherapy process and the decisions made by himself or herself in a critical manner.

Toteutustapa

In the course, work is mainly done in workshops, practicing physical therapy support and the formation of the clinical reasoning process. 100% attendance at the workshops is required. Compensation for absences is agreed separately with the supervising teacher. In addition, it is good to reserve enough time for independent study during the Study Period.

The numerically evaluated portions of the Study Course are the exam and the seminar work. The exam material is distributed during the course's orientation session. The seminar work is carried out as group work.

Objectives of the course:
After the course, the student can:
- Obtain customer-oriented research information about the situation of his functional capacity and resources in the clinical reasoning of physiotherapy
- Forms a physiotherapeutic diagnosis of the client's situation
- Implements problem solving regarding the client's ability to function in connection with the physiotherapy process

In this course, the students' workload is therefore estimated to be around 135 hours, which includes workshop study, independent study for workshops and exams, basketball players' FMS measurements, and working on the final assignment with the group.

The study unit corresponds to the requirements of Bachelor's level education.
According to the degree regulations (section 18) "students must be present for the first contact teaching session, or they must notify the responsible teacher of their absence to confirm they intend to participate in studies, Alternatively, the teacher can specify a different manner for the student to confirm that they intend to participate in the studies. The completion of these measures can be required within a week of the studies having begun. The application of the aforementioned approach requires that the teacher notifies the students accepted to the study unit of the practice and that the practice is specifically mentioned in the study unit’s implementation plan.

If the student has a justified reason for not attending the first contact teaching session or for not notifying the teacher of their intention to be involved in studies in the manner required by the teacher, the student must contact the responsible teacher to agree on participation in the studies. “The evaluation of competence is based on the descriptions of objectives in the curricula, and the level of competence is assessed according to the evaluation criteria listed in the implementation plan for the studies.” (Laurea degree regulations).

In this study unit the assessing of the competences will be done by using the criteria set for requirement level I.

“Students who has failed to demonstrate their competence in accordance with the approved level must supplement or retake their study attainment in a manner and schedule defined by the teacher of the study unit. Laurea provides examination retake dates. Students must register for these examinations no later than 10 days before the retake date. A failed exam or other study attainment can be retaken twice. A failure to attend an actual examination is considered to be one completion attempt." (Laurea degree regulations.)

All staff and students of Laurea are expected to adhere to good scientific practices, which includes appropriate referencing. Familiarise yourself with the practices and, if needed, ask for more information. All study assignments are to be done as individual work unless otherwise instructed. Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat

All students are entitled to demonstrate their competence. The recognition and accreditation of prior competence is initiated by the students themselves. The competence is recognised and accredited by the teacher responsible for the studies or another person designated to the position. The assessment is carried out according to the same assessment criteria and, as a rule, same grading scale as that adopted for the corresponding study unit or module. The student is entitled to apply for accreditation of prior competence regardless of where, how and when the competence has been acquired. The student may also seek accreditation of competence to be acquired on the job as part of their degree (work-based learning). The student is responsible for demonstrating and verifying their competence and for providing sufficient information.

If they fail to notify the teacher of their absence in the first contact session, their enrollment will be rejected. Another student in the queue may be enrolled in the study unit in the place of the absent student.” (Laurea degree regulations) In the case of online studies the lecturer can also specify some other way than participation on an online meeting what is required from the student so that he/she verifies his/her attendance on the study unit (Decision by the vice president, education 7/2019).

One credit corresponds to an average of 26.7 hours of student work. The course is five (5) credits in total. In this Study Course, the students' workload is therefore estimated to be approximately 135 hours, which includes workshop study, independent study for workshops and the exam, and working on the final assignment in the form of a report.

In the course, various physiotherapy methods are practiced, such as soft tissue treatment, joint mobilization, neural tissue mobilization, physical treatment methods and taping. Practical training takes place in workshops. In addition, the topic is explored in more detail through assignments and literature.

According to the degree regulations (section 18) “students must be present in the first contact session or notify their teacher in charge if they cannot attend. If they fail to notify the teacher of their absence in the first contact session, their enrollment will be rejected. Another student in the queue may be enrolled in the study unit in the place of the absent student.”

The course consists of three modules, which are:

1. Physiotherapy that supports the functioning of the heart and circulatory system
2. Physiotherapy that supports the functioning of the respiratory system
3. Lifestyle guidance of the client

Lifestyle coaching is always included in the treatment and rehabilitation of a client suffering from a malfunction of the heart or respiratory system. Physical activity and increasing it play a significant role in that. Lifestyle coaching is also central to the prevention of various lifestyle diseases. In lifestyle coaching, a value- and acceptance-based approach based on the client's needs is used as an approach to physiotherapeutic guidance and counseling (= coaching) (Kauravaara & Kangasniemi 2016).

The course includes lectures, visits by experienced experts and experts, workshop work and a multidisciplinary simulation exercise of a client family, where you act as a physiotherapist. The workshops have 100% attendance. Absences and substitutions must be agreed in advance with the teacher. In addition, you will develop your skills in the physiotherapy of a client with a heart and respiratory disease through assignments. The simulation situation also requires preparation in advance.

The study unit corresponds to the requirements of Bachelor's level education.

Student must have the prior competence from the following courses (and an accepted course marks):

*Rehabilitation and encountering the client 5 credits
*Physiotherapeutic instruction and guidance 5 credits
*A Client´s Physiotherapy Examination and Assessment 5 credits
*Therapeutic exercise 5 credits

- Multidisciplinary simulation exercise on lifestyle guidance of a client cases 1 cr
- Respiratory physiotherapy assignment and workshop 2 cr
- Cardiac physiotherapy assignment and workshop 2 cr

Subjects of evaluation:
- Two pair assignments (H-5)
- Workshops (passed / failed)
- Multidisciplinary simulation (passed/failed)

In this study unit the assessing of the competences will be done by using the criteria set for requirement level II.

“Students who has failed to demonstrate their competence in accordance with the approved level must supplement or retake their study attainment in a manner and schedule defined by the teacher of the study unit. Laurea provides examination retake dates. Students must register for these examinations no later than 10 days before the retake date. A failed exam or other study attainment can be retaken twice. A failure to attend an actual examination is considered to be one completion attempt." (Laurea degree regulations.)

The last return date for assignments is March 29, 2024.

- describe the basic principles of a progressive therapeutic exercise in various contexts
- use therapeutic exercise methods in a justified, client-centred and safe way to prevent and repair impairment of body functions and structures, activity limitations, and participation restrictions
- evaluate the suitability and effectiveness of the client’s goal-oriented therapeutic exercise.

Toteutustapa

A Canvas learning environment is used to support the implementation, but it is important to take part in teaching and guidance on campus according to schedule. There are 100% attendance in the workshops. The study unit includes individual studying as well as working in pairs or groups. You will receive individual feedback for assignments from the teacher and peer feedback may also be utilized.

Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat

All students are entitled to demonstrate their competence. The recognition and accreditation of prior competence is initiated by the students themselves. The competence is recognized and accredited by the teacher responsible for the studies. The assessment is carried out according to the same assessment criteria and, as a rule, same grading scale as that adopted for the corresponding study unit or module. The student is entitled to apply for accreditation of prior competence regardless of where, how and when the competence has been acquired. The student may also seek accreditation of competence to be acquired on the job as part of their degree (work-based learning). The student is responsible for demonstrating and verifying their competence and for providing sufficient information.

According to the degree regulations (section 18) "students must be present for the first contact teaching session, or they must notify the responsible teacher of their absence to confirm they intend to participate in studies, Alternatively, the teacher can specify a different manner for the student to confirm that they intend to participate in the studies. The completion of these measures can be required within a week of the studies having begun. The application of the aforementioned approach requires that the teacher notifies the students accepted to the study unit of the practice and that the practice is specifically mentioned in the study unit’s implementation plan.

If the student has a justified reason for not attending the first contact teaching session or for not notifying the teacher of their intention to be involved in studies in the manner required by the teacher, the student must contact the responsible teacher to agree on participation in the studies. Their registration for the study unit will be rejected, of the student does not notify the teacher of being absent from the first contact teaching session or the reason for their absence cannot be considered justified, another student who is in line for the study unit can be selected in their place."
