The student is able to
- make justified independent decisions in assessing the need for treatment, taking professional ethics into account
-plan, implement and evaluate public health nursing
- use health care methods that strengthen resources in different operating environments
- guide and support clients in self-care, health habits and lifestyle changes
- perform clinical procedures that are part of the public health nurse’s work
- recognise the contents, tasks and responsibilities of public health nursing work in occupational health care, the work community and the working environment
- draw on national and regional health policy policies, plans and guidelines concerning occupational health care as starting points for their work
- recognise the possibilities of occupational health care in supporting the working-age population and understand the operating process of occupational health care
- carry out various health examinations and screening among the working-age population and assess the need for treatment, following ethical principles
- draw on various reports in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health care work of working-age clients
- describe the workplace survey process and understand the significance of the workplace survey
- recognise health risks caused by work in different tasks
- promote the health of employees and their ability to work and function at different stages of their careers
- the main principles of compensation classes defined by Kela in occupational health care activities
- guide and vaccinate travellers and immigrants
- assess their own competence and interaction skills and develop their activities
- assess the health and safety of clients of different ages and their families
- promote the health and safety of work and the working environment
