Learning outcomes
The student is able to:
- describe the competencies required for the successful execution of projects
- develop the skills of project personnel and enhance the organization's project activities based on the IPMA project standard
Location and time
Certification Examination will take place 12 September 2025 online at 9 am. The exam will last ca. 2 hours. The test can be taken either in English or in Finnish.
Become acquainted with the general exam instruction by PRY - Association of Project Management Professionals in Finland. They will be sent to students who have enrolled on the course and registered for the exam. NOTE: students will also register separately for the exam at: https://foundation.pry.fi/

Teaching methods
Degree students complete the course with 5 ECTS and Open UAS students with 3 ECTS.
Certification Examination is based on International Project Management Association IPMA Individual Competence Baseline ICB Standard, material and examination. The Foundation Certification Examination is organised by PRY - Association of Project Management Professionals Finland: it is aimed at students. Students will acquaint themselves with the course literature and take part in the exam, which is organised by PRY.
Students can also participate in PRY's webinars and use PRY's webinar library. www.pry.fi
In addition, degree students complete a reflection assignment on the Canvas platform (contains EQF7-level academic material).
Exam schedules
The online examination will take place 12 September 2025 at 9 am. A retake date will be announced later.
Student workload
Open UAS course completion: 3 credits = 80 hours of student work.
Laurea UAS Degree student course completion (includes a reflection assignment and related material) 5 cr = 134 hours of student work.

Further information
The Foundation certificate has already been completed by 7,500 students in Finland, i.e. The Foundation Certificate in Project Management is widely known in the field and is a valuable piece of evidence on a CV. After passing the exam, the student will be awarded the Foundation Certificate by PRY.
