Learning outcomes
The student is able to
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding of social work principles, practices and methods used with multicultural individuals and families
- analyze the process of cultural adaptation and its impact on the development of a cultural identity
- understand the role of family work
- use various methods and means of family work
- demonstrate knowledge of legislation associated with children & families
- analyze cultural structures and processes that produce inequality
Location and time
Lectures and workshops will take place in Laurea Tikkurila between 1.5.-15.6.2018. Student works independently during the summer months. Final seminar takes place on 21.8.2018. Visiting World Village Festival in Kaisaniemi 25.-26.5.2019 is also a recommended part of this study unit.
Teaching methods
The study unit consists of lectures, workshops, individual and group assignments and a project work.
