Learning outcomes
The student is able to
- identify values and ethical principles in the social care sector
- recognize the basic characteristics connected to lifespan development
- outline client relationships in the social care sector and different life situations
Location and time
A more detailed schedule for the course is available in Pakki and Optima. Contact lessons at the Tikkurila Campus. Project implementations will be at the various partner organizations.
Materials
Supportive study material will be given out in the beginning of the course.
Teaching methods
The course includes workshops, group work and a small project work.
The aspects of LbD-method, research and development methods and counselling and communication practices will all be integrated.
Employer connections
There is an LbD-project implementation which will include entrepreneurial skills in cooperation with health care providers in the area.
Completion alternatives
Students are entitled for accreditation of this course by demonstrating their competence in basic premises within the field of social care practice.

Allocated Study time for the 5 cr course:
Contact lessons: 30 hours
LbD-project: 50 hours

Reading literature: 25 hours
Content scheduling
LbD-project will be implemented as part of the course.

Further information
The course requires personal attendance in contact lessons. Students are expected to attend 70% of the contact lessons.
