Materials

The source materials needed for the subject area of the project are selected separately after the project assignment.

Teaching methods

Before this course you need to have completed the courses TP00BL38 Basics of project management and TP00BL40 Development of project management or have gained similar knowledge and skills from elsewhere. The project is completed in cooperation with a workplace partner in a project based learning environment.

Project content: these projects are suitable for students who:
- are motivated to act as a project manager and
- have knowledge and experience from working in a development projects with businesses and/or communities.
The topic and the scope of the project is agreed in the first project briefing, after completing the orientation task. The main topics of the projects are e.g. marketing, circular economy, HR, user experience, business development, developing business models. When applicable, service design tools and methods will be used as part of the project work. The projects within this study unit vary from 5 to 15 ECTS.

Guidance sessions and communication practices are agreed on a project-specific basis. Weekly project briefings are held Thursdays at 9.00 - 11.00, participation F2F or online. Project guidance is available according the schedule.

If this project is fully booked, students may use post-enrollment to apply for projects and study units which still accept students.

Project organizations are mainly businesses and communities in the Länsi-Uusimaa region. Project listing is available upon the project briefing. The main topics of the projects are: marketing, circular economy, HR, business models, business development, developing business models.

Exam schedules

Project guidance is offered on a weekly basis. As a student, you may compare the available guidance sessions in Lukkarikone and select those projects/studies that do not overlap. After being accepted to this study unit, the orientation task in Canvas must be completed and attend to project briefing sessions on Thursdays.
According to the degree regulations (section 18 ) compulsory attendance in a study unit must be specified and justified in the study unit’s implementation plan.

In addition, the project team schedules a separate meeting to work on the project after the kickoff briefing.

The study unit is suitable for exchange students.

Completion alternatives

According to degree regulations “All students are entitled to demonstrate their competence. The recognition and accreditation of prior competence is initiated by the students themselves. The competence is recognized and accredited by the teacher responsible for the module or study unit or another person designated by the director of the UAS unit. The assessment is carried out according to the same criteria and grading scale as that adopted for the corresponding study unit.” For further information visit LINK.

Further information

According to the degree regulations (section 18) “students must be present in the first contact session or notify their teacher in charge if they cannot attend. If they fail to notify the teacher of their absence in the first contact session, their enrolment will be rejected. Another student in the queue may be enrolled in the study unit in the place of the absent student.” (Laurea degree regulations) In the case of online studies the lecturer can also specify some other way than participation on an online meeting what is required from the student so that he/she verifies his/her attendance on the study unit (Decision by the vice president, education 7/2019).
