Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- describe the structure and operation of data networks in relation to the following terms: Local area networks, wireless networks, internet
- describe the functionality of IP-networks and key internet protocols
- implement and maintain basic services in a local area network
- justify the importance of information security according to the CIA model (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability)
- identify common information security threats faced by organizations
- implement basic level information security safeguards for local area network

Teaching methods

Opintojakson toteutus perustuu verkkoympäristössä tapahtuvaan työskentelyyn sekä lähitapaamisiin.

Completion alternatives

Opiskelija, jolla on jo aiemmin hankittua osaamista tietoverkoista ja tietoliikenneprotokollista, voi keskustella HOT.menettelystä ja osaamisen näytöstä opettajien kanssa ennen opintojakson aloitusta tai viimeistään aloitustilaisuudessa tai sitä seuraavan viikon aikana.

Content scheduling

Opintojakson sisältö kattaa tietoverkkojen perusteet erityisesti tietoturva huomioon ottaen. Sisältö on jaettu neljään teemaan, jotka alkavat yhteisillä tapaamisilla sekä jatkuvat verkossa yksin ja yhdessä työskentelemällä. Teemojen pituudet ovat noin neljä viikkoa, joten toteutus jaksottuu koko lukukauden ajalle.
