Research and Development Methods (5 cr)

Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- choose the proper methods for development project and give reasons for these choices
- collect empirical data and analyse it
- interpret empirical results and make conclusions based on them
- recognizes the ethical point of view of the research and development work
- evaluate the reliability and validity of research
- apply the principles of research communication orally and in writing
- draw up and interpret research and development reports

Teaching methods

The study unit is implemented mostly through independent work, with a few face to face meetings. Attendance is expected only in the first group meeting, but regular participation in some online discussions will be expected. Most meetings and online work will take place in May-June, with some independent work to follow in July-August. All assignments must be returned by mid-August. (A more detailed schedule will be published before enrollment.)
Some of the assignments are strictly individual, while some can be done in pairs or small groups by choice.
