Learning outcomes
The student is able to
- communicate in common workplace situations
- write understandable general texts using tools
- know the main professional vocabulary related to their field
- use and deepen his/her basic language skills acquired earlier
- recognise typical cultural characteristics of the areas where the language is spoken
- reach the level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference
Location and time
This study unit begins on 29th January. Virtual sessions over Zoom take place according to the timetable agreed on in the first meeting at 4 pm.
Materials
The course is on the Canvas learning platform, and progresses according to a freely adaptable weekly schedule, returnable learning tasks and Zoom lectures in your own calendar.
Teaching methods
The course is an online professional French language course, intended for both Finnish and English-speaking students. A link to the Canvas workspace and Zoom meetings will be sent to participants in January 2024.

You will learn professional French language communication skills through a variety of interactive oral and written learning tasks, independently and collaboratively online. The learning activities focus on studying and working in French-speaking countries, typical features of French-speaking cultures, professions and jobs, products and services. Through the sources and teaching materials used in the exercises, you will become familiar with French terminology in various fields in professional communication situations and learn to develop your professional language skills using a variety of tools.
It is possible to design a co-development project (un projet de co-création) with a French worklife partner, with experts or students from French-speaking countries .

Due dates for assignments will be announced at the beginning of the course.

The knowledge gained during the course can be applied in companies and organisations operating globally.

Qualifications
The requirement is that the student has completed studies in French at a high school or a university and has reached at least the level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.
