Tavoitteet

The student is able to:
o share his/her own culture and values
o develop better intercultural communication skills
o interact and take part in discussions
o develop multicultural team-work and presentation skills
o achieve a better understanding of the Finnish culture
o achieve a better understanding of other cultures and traditions

Sisältö

Content Approach:
The study unit provides students with an understanding of the cultural differences in values, communication patterns and way of thinking.
The study unit aims to make a general analysis and comparison of the concepts, realities and challenges of modern life, daily-basis reality and intercultural relations, in Finland and in the rest of the world.

Active participation to classes, assignments: PPT presentations, portfolio.

Lisätiedot

It is possible to participate to separate workshops on voluntary basis, completion of the study requires weekly attendance and passing the assignments and portfolio.

Content Approach:
The study unit provides students with an understanding of the cultural differences in values, communication patterns and way of thinking.
The study unit aims to make a general analysis and comparison of the concepts, realities and challenges of modern life, daily-basis reality and intercultural relations, in Finland and in the rest of the world.

Study Unit structure:
o 5 ECTS
o 90 minutes / week
o open for: degree students, incoming students
o language of instruction: English
o assessment: PPT presentation, final assessment (e-portfolio)
o location: Leppävaara and Tikkurila
o Starting time: 5th of March
