Learning outcomes

The student is able to:
- define fundamental organisations’ and society’s preparedness compliance requirements, best practices and apply those
- define society’s preparedness operators and their roles
- plan, assess and develop emergency preparedness and create related procedures and guidelines

Location and time

Study unit begins with webinar on Fri 8.5. at 16.00-17.00.. Presence (or notification of absence of that day) required for accepting place in study unit).
Before the webinar familiarize yourself with Canvas workspace and do the pre-assignment.
The timetable of the assignments of the study unit is available in Optima.
The second webinar Mon 1.6. at 16.00-17.00. It is highly recommended to attend also to this webinar. The webinar is part of the assignments that are evaluated.
Beginning the individual assignment on 1.6.2020.
8.5.2020-12.6.2020 each Friday morning there are available pop-up guidance for those who want guidance.
13.6.2020-9.8.2020 studying independently. No guidance available.

Teaching methods

There are no earlier studies required for this stydy unit. This implementation is firstly for students who don´t study safety, security and risk management degree.
Two afternoon webinars Fri 8.5. and Mon 1.6.
During May studying online in groups and independently.
In Canvas workspace group assignments that will be evaluated.
8.5.2020-12.6.2020 each Friday morning there are available pop-up guidance for those who want guidance.
Beginning of June starting the individual assignment.
13.6.2020-9.8.2020 studying independently. No guidance available.

Content scheduling

Studying the theory of preparedness with video lectures, material in Canvas and given assignments.
Study themes are risk management, self-preparedness and societys´preparedness.
After gathering the theory basis there is implementing module as an individual assignment.

Qualifications

Before enrolling to this study unit, you should have adequate competence level of safety, security and risk management, which you can acquire for example by completing study unit Business Continuity 5 credits or Basics of Corporate Safety, Security and Risk Management 10 credits

Further information

The study unit is adjusted for all students. Earlier studies of safety, security or risk management are not required. In this implementation other than safety, security and risk management students are prioritized if there are more enrolled students than places in the study unit.
