Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- analyze factors affecting their stress and personal resources.
- apply theoretical knowledge and creative methods in stress management and recovery
- evaluate the significance of holistic well-being in studying and work

Teaching methods

Stress Tolerance Study Unit is part of Self Management Skills.
The contact sessions take place at Laurea Leppävaara Campus, starting on Thu 3.10. at 9.

In addition to contact sessions at Leppävaara, we pay study visits to an art museum ( ticket 5 euro) and Winter Garden in Helsinki.

We have 8 contact sessions.

We speak clear English.

The content in a nutshell:

Pre-assignment before the first contact session.
Learning circle and material review.
Using creative methods.
Assignment is a learning diary with the method reflective writing.

Location and time

Stress Tolerance begins at Laurea Leppävaara on Thursday 3.10. at 9.
Participation in the first session is essential in order to design the details together with students.
Two study visits: Museum Amos Rex and the Winter Garden.
Participants will jointly write a Code of Conduct.

Learning materials and recommended literature

Well-being is a broad perspective.
Information search on the topics at the Laurea library.
Book buffet at the Laurea library.

Alternative completion methods of implementation

Writing a report or an article according to Laurea's instruction.

Co-operation with working life and/or RDI

Alumni visiting the session: How to take care of well-being during the studies and at work.

Forms of internationality

There are international exchange students taking part in the study unit.

The evaluation criteria in based on the level 1. This is discussed and agreed during the first session.

A student is able to use:

2. search for information from different information sources and report
3. act under guidance using the skills and methods to be studied
4. work with customers and/or partners
5. to accept guidance
6. act as a member of the group
7. to plan the progress of one's own work and use of time in a controlled manner
8. act safely and in accordance with professional ethical principles, follow the given instructions and rules.
