Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- recognise the contents and tasks of the school nurse's work as part of pupil well-being and the school community
- take into account national and regional health policies, plans and guidelines concerning school and student health care as starting points for their work
- take into account the possibilities and societal significance of school and student health care activities and multicultural perspectives
- participate in multiprofessional network-based work and in the various tasks of pupil well-being, taking professional ethics into account
- find out about the significance of the audit of the school environment and the school community for the health and well-being of school-age children
- describe the objectives and contents of the health examination programme for school-age children and students and apply them in client situations
- carry out screening studies
- assess the comprehensive growth, development, study ability and family situation of a child and young person of school age
- support and guide in health problems and risk factors related to health and well-being both in the appointment work and online services
- support young people in identifying their challenges and help them utilise their own resources and strengthen their decision-making skills and sense of participation
- describe situations where social work support or child welfare is needed
- find out about the possibilities and needs of preventing non-communicable and infectious diseases in school environments
- promote sexual and mental health
- to guide clients in Swedish, English or assisted by an interpreter
- guide and vaccinate school-age children and students
- be a member of the school community
- examine and evaluate the posture of school-age children
- assess their own competence and develop their own activities
