Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- recognise key surgical illnesses and surgically treated injuries
- describe the significance of background information in assessing the patient’s fitness for surgery
- actively monitor the symptoms and condition of a surgical patient based on medical information
- describe the most common methods of examination, monitoring and treatment in surgery
- describe the special features of the medical treatment of a surgical patient
- describe the different areas of anaesthesiology
- describe different forms of anaesthesia
- recognise the most essential medicines used in anaesthesia
