Medication Treatment and Medication Calculations 3. (2 op)

Tavoitteet

The student is able to
- calculate medication doses correctly
- apply their knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and the implementation of pharmaceutical care when planning, implementing and evaluating the medication treatment of a surgical or acutely ill patient
- treat a patient's acute pain with medications
- plan, implement and evaluate the administration of intravenous nutrition
- explain the basic principles of safe blood transfusion
- explain the basics of epidural and spinal medication
- explain the basics of safe and aseptic use of central venous catheters

Toteutustapa

Blended learning implementation:

A Canvas learning environment is used to support the implementation but it is important to take part in teaching and guidance on campus according to schedule.. The study unit includes scheduled teaching and guidance both in lessons and in workshops. The study unit includes working in groups during the lessons and in the workshops.

Attendance in orientation & workshops are mandatory.

According to Laurea's degree rules, all students have the right to demonstrate their skills. The initiative to identify and recognize the acquired competence is taken by the student. Competence is identified and recognized by the teacher responsible for the implementation of the study or another person appointed by the head of the university unit. The evaluation follows the same evaluation criteria and evaluation scale as the Course. See student intranet for more information.

Workload of the study is measured in a way that to acquire the goal competence of the study, one credit corresponds to an average of 26.7 hours of work done by the student. The actual time needed varies e.g. according to prior competence.
