Teaching methods

The implementation plan is available in Finnish language.The first part of the course (1 credit) consists of a career planning task. Additionally, the first part includes group meetings and, if necessary, PSP discussions.

The second part of the course (1 credit) consists of optional modules. You can choose another task according to your own interests and needs. If necessary, you will receive support from your teacher-tutor in selecting a suitable task, and together with your teacher-tutor, you will plan what kind of content and modules you should choose. These themes include, among others, well-being, career aspirations, job search skills and knowledge of the working life, study skills, internationality, entrepreneurship, and future awareness.

Interactive online implementation:
The course is implemented online and does not require coming to campus. The course includes scheduled teaching or guidance online, which is not recorded / recorded (and can be viewed later on Canvas). The course involves pair or group work. The course requires activity and commitment to interactive learning. Personal feedback will be provided by the teacher on assignments, and workplace and peer feedback may also be utilized.

Important dates

This course is an important guidance-oriented course, where you will receive instructions and support for your studies from your teacher-tutor as well as from fellow students in your group. For this reason, participating in the course meetings is highly important.

Professional Development: There are 2 group meetings and, if needed, PSP discussions.

Students workload

The workload of the course is designed so that in order to achieve the intended learning outcomes, one credit point corresponds to an average of 26.7 hours of student work. The actual time required may vary individually, depending on factors such as prior knowledge.

Professional Development: Career planning task, PSP discussions, and group meetings approximately 27 hours, and optional task approximately 27 hours.

During this course, you will contemplate your future career and engage in related activities. Additionally, you will select an area of interest to work on and have PSP discussions with your teacher-tutor as needed.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Competence assessment focuses on the learning objectives, and the level of competence is assessed based on the evaluation criteria specified in the course implementation plan (Degree Regulations 2024).
The course is assessed on a pass-fail scale.

The assessment of competence for a university of applied sciences student utilizes criteria corresponding to level I of the competence assessment framework, as described below.

"A student who has not demonstrated their competence at the level required by the evaluation criteria should supplement or retake their performance in a manner and within a timeframe defined by the course teacher. If, despite the opportunity to supplement their performance, a student fails to achieve a passing grade, they must retake the course in a manner agreed upon with the teacher."
