The student is able to
- understand extended speech in health care context
- interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity with patients and their significant others
- take an active part in professional discussion with colleagues
- read newspaper articles and academic reports about contemporary problems
- present a clear, detailed description on a wide range of subjects related to nursing
- write a clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects related to nursing

5 cr. equals 135 hours of student's work. This consists of independent and group work, contact lessons and assignments to be completed during the course.

Oral guidance based on written instructions

- Interpreting and discussing the care plan
- Understanding and providing treatment instructions (Current Care Guidelines)
- Orally present written instructions
- Phone communication: home care and transfer discussion

Serious illnesses and public health diseases

- Serious illnesses
- Public health diseases in the Finnish context
- Inquiring about and discussing symptoms
- Discussing sensitive topics

Nurse's work environments (independently performed)
