Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- analyse and develop their activity as a member of the work community and a manager
- apply labour legislation and collective agreements
- analyse the work community and promote well-being at work

Location and time

The study unit will take place at Leppävaara Campus. The study unit start is 12.01.2023 12.30 - 15.00. See Pakki for study unit general schedule. Students are informed of any changes in implementation as soon as possible. Contact sessions are directly visible in Pakki and not repeated here.
Some of the contact lessons are compulsory for the students. A non-attendance will result into an extra assignment agreed with the lecturers.

Materials

Teachers will provide relevant materials. All required reading will be either distributed via Canvas, available freely on the internet, or available in Finna as eBooks. In addition, legislation is available in the Finlex-service; the exam will test knowledge and application of specifically indicated sections of e.g. labour legislation. Materials created by teachers (copyright holders) and are only to be used for the purposes of this study unit.

Teaching methods

This study unit is a contact lesson study unit with one on-line meeting (ZOOM) scheduled. The students will have individual and group-work as assignments. The contact lessons are not recorded and no hybrid lessons are organised. PDF-material will be uploaded to Canvas available for students.

Employer connections

Assignments require reflection on students' current or past work experience. Assignments and study unit content aim to develop students' understanding of requirements of current working life.

Exam schedules

According to the degree regulations (section 18): students must be present at the first contact session (which is 12.01.2023 12.30 - 15.00) or notify the teacher in charge if they cannot attend. If they fail to notify the teacher of their absence in the first contact session, their enrollment will be rejected. After the first contact day no new students are accepted on the course.

Further information

Communication will be handled via Canvas workspace message boards. Private messages to teachers should be handled via email.

Tutoring:
Tutoring is available on beforehand set days and upon request. Personal discussion times should be pre-agreed with teacher.

Communication:
Zoom or Teams- application will be used for tutoring and general information sharing.
Canvas is used for formal information, material sharing and storing, returning assignments, etc.

If necessary, other means of communication will be agreed by the learning community commonly in the beginning of the study unit. Changes to preliminary program are possible, but the students will be notified if necessary
