Osaamistavoitteet

The student is able to:
- describe the basic structure and functions of the nervous system
- describe the human body’s structure and functions from the perspective of biomechanics and exercise physiology
- evaluate the impact of exercise on the human body’s regulatory systems and physical capacity
- apply information on the measurement of a client’s physical capacity and assessment of the client’s ability to take part in exercise.

Day-time education:

The implementation of the study is supported by the learning environment built in Canvas, but it is important for the learning to participate in the on-campus teaching and supervision according to the schedule.

The study includes pair or group work in biomechanics and exercise physiology workshops.

Group feedback is given on the exams and, if the student so wishes, personal feedback by the teacher.

In accordance with Laurea's degree regulations, "All students have the right to demonstrate their skills. The student takes the initiative to identify and recognize the acquired competence. Competence is recognized and recognized by the teacher responsible for the study or another person appointed to the task. The assessment follows the same assessment criteria and, as a rule, the same assessment scale as for the corresponding Study Course or unit. The student has the right to apply for recognition of competence regardless of where, how and when the competence was acquired. The student can also apply for the recognition of skills acquired at work as part of the degree (studying the work). ... The student is responsible for demonstrating, proving and providing sufficient information. Competence is evaluated by the student and the instructor receiving the screen together. You can replace part of your studies on the previously acquired skills screen. These should be discussed with the supervising teachers before the start of the studies.

Toteutuksen tärkeät päivämäärät

The teaching takes place between 27.10 and 19.12.2023 at Otaniemi campus. The course exam is held on 19 of december at 8-11 am at IT- class.

Orientation 27.10.2023 klo. 8-11.

In accordance with § 18 of the degree regulations, "the student must be present at the first contact or inform the responsible teacher of his absence in order to confirm his participation in the study. Alternatively, the teacher can also specify another way for the student to confirm his participation in the implementation. These actions may be required within a week of the start of implementation. In accordance with the above, the application of the method of operation requires that the teacher informs the students approved for the implementation about the practice and that the practice is described in the Study Implementation Plan. If the student has been prevented from participating in the first contact session or becoming active in his studies according to the conditions set by the teacher for justified reasons, he should contact the teacher in charge to agree on participation in the implementation. Registration will be rejected if the student does not report his/her absence at the start of the study or the reason for the absence cannot be considered justified. The next student in line can be taken in his place".

Contact teaching and workshops as well as preparation for exams correspond to the workload of a 5 ECTS (approx. 133 h) for the student.

Sisältö ja sen jaksotus

The course includes studies on the basic concepts of the nervous system, the connection between muscle function and the nervous system, and the basics of the functioning of the body system under load. In addition, in the Study Course, various measuring methods used by physiotherapists in their future work are practiced.

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

Competence assessment focuses on the goal descriptions of the curricula, and the level of competence is assessed based on the evaluation criteria stated in the Study Implementation Plan (Laurea's degree regulations).

A student who has not completed the tasks or exams set to pass the course must supplement or renew his/her performance in the manner specified by the teacher of the study course and within the time specified by the teacher. A failed exam or other performance can be renewed twice. Not participating in the actual exam is counted as one performance. (Laurea degree rules.)

All employees of Laurea are expected to follow good scientific practices, which includes proper referencing of sources. Familiarize yourself and ask about practices if necessary. All study assignments are done as individual work, unless otherwise instructed in the assignment. In connection with the revision of the assignments, the teacher will tell you separately about the use of Ouriginal.

In the evaluation of the study, the criteria according to requirement level I of the competence evaluation framework for a master's degree student are used:

The student does not attend orientation without informing proper reason (own choice is not cause) to the leading lecturer.
