Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- identify current technological solutions and innovations for social and health care
- recognize differences and similarities in challenges related to the aging of global population, such as loneliness and changes in service structures
- evaluate methods for developing technological solutions for social and health care
- gain more project based learning, know-how and competence in utilizing ideas of technology for social and health care
- analyse ethical aspects in health and wellness related technology

-best practices for using technological solutions for social and health services in different countries
- end-users as co-developers of technological solutions and services
- different eServices promoting health and wellness-technology and the challenges of the aging population
- innovative examples from different EU and other projects
- empowering clients and patients through different methods of self-expression and social connectivity

Materials

Course materials are provided during the course.

Teaching methods

In this course, the students will study technological solutions, good practices and projects in health and wellness promotion in social and health care worldwide.

Some of the themes approached are, gamification, enhanced end-user engagement, e Services, empowerment, social connectivity, digital storytelling, quality of life, inclusion through digital skills, AI-based services and multidiciplinary perspectives on technological solutions. Also, the concept of sustainability as well as the future of circular economy is studied during the course.

The study unit takes place both online and at the campus. Course tasks consist of both individual and group assignments . For the final written assignment, the students can choose a topic of their interest.

NB! In case of corona restrictions, the course takes place online, using Canva and other digital solutions.

The course is interlinked with Erasmus+ DISC project as well as different other current ICT related projects.

International connections

The study unit is suitable for exchange students.

One credit equals approximately 26.7 hours of work performed by the student.

Regarding study visits and lectures the required attendence is 70%.
