Teaching methods
Clinical practice in different nursing environments.
Location and time
Practice is done in different nursing environments. Time of practice is according to individual PSP
Learning materials and recommended literature
-Practice placement guide and learning contract are in the Degree clinical practice OPTIMA Workspace
-Practice placement supervisor will comment on the student´s learning contract. The learning contract will be accepted by the supervising teacher, placment supervisor and the student
-Practice placement assignment should be done according to the instructions given by the supervising teacher
-At the end of practice, the student will upload all scanned documents in own Optima worksheet.
Alternative completion methods of implementation
If you have a signed contract to work as a REGISTERED NURSE during the summer, then you have a possibility of using it as part of your practice. Please check Degree clinical practice folder for more information on Application for recognition of paid work.
Note that this has to be agreed with your tutor and all necessary documents submitted beforehand.
Co-operation with working life and/or RDI
There is cooperation between the institution and working life partners. Theoretical knowledge learned in school, will be implemented in the different nursing environments.

Students workload
1cr = 27hours of student´s workload.
Note that the minimum number of weeks that can be done in any given nursing environments 3 weeks. Preferably practice should be done as a whole or divided into two i.e. 5 weeks each.
Reduction of 8 hours from the total number of hours, for doing placement assignment

-Student must have passed INTENSIVE MEDICATION CALCULATIONS prior to start of placement
Note that if the above has not been fullfilled, then your placement will need to be cancelled at least 3 weeks before the start of practice placement.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Evaluated as PASS / FAIL / Re-do
Student will have a named supervising teacher, who will comment and accept the students´placement goals/objectices. The goals/ objectives need to be written on the learning agreement in OPTIMA and should be done by the end of the first week of practice.
Each student should have a placement supervisor named by the unit, who will guide the student´s learning during the practice period. The placement supervisor will evaluate the student's perfomance in accordance with the objectives that the student has written and will give the supervising teacher a recommendation of PASS / FAIL of the practice placement.

Placement rejection criteria
1. Professional skills:
- Unethical actions
- Actions that endangers patient safety
- Lack of essential knowledge and skills
2. Learning capacity
- Not able to receive/seek guidance
- Lack of motivation and takinginitiative
- Lack of commitment to practice (Violation of commitment))
3. Achievement of goals
- Lack of description of starting level and goals for the training period
- Failure in achieving persons goals for the training period
- Failure to complete placement task(s)

4. Achieving quantitative criteria
- Training hours is in complete
- The student has not present his/her signed work shift
5. Barriers due to student´s health status
A rejection in one of the criterial can lead to a decision rejecting the practice.
