• identify personal developmental needs in communication skills and develop realistic strategies for improvement
• communicate empathetically with oneself, colleagues, and patients

Methods:
Interactive lessons, practical rehearsal assignments with the other students, independent work with the course materials and at the digital learning environment Canvas, reporting and reflecting what is learned at a personal learning diary.

Accomplishment methods

Assessment: Pass / fail
The learning diary will be evaluated as pass/fail as will the course overall.

• A pass will be awarded if all of the following criteria are met:
o the compulsory reading materials have been reflected on as required
o 80% of the lessons have been attended (a maximum of 1 morning or afternoon session can
be missed)
o at least 2 points are obtained from the evaluation rubric
o the assignment has the required word count
o plagiarism is not detected
• If the learning diary is returned late, no feedback will be given.
