Learning outcomes

The student is able to
• understand the concept of childhood is defined and constructed in Finland from political, institutional and individual perspectives
• discuss the values and philosophy of early childhood education and care
• start construct their role as social pedagogues in kindergarten
• understand how the Nordic EDUCARE model is implemented in practice as a combination of education and care
• understand the basic ideas of the Finnish National ECEC curriculum and how it is connected with pre-primary and basic education
• understand the idea of how assessment and development work pass through the education system.
