The course is useful for students in service design, digital services, computer science, business studies, security management, project management, entrepreneurship, or future studies.

Content
In Futudemy we will practice digital service design skills with real cases using data and smart technologies. Even the most traditional and human-centric industries are becoming more data- and digitally-driven. You need to be able to work together with people with different skills to solve new problems.
- Service designers can create better services if they know how to include data, AI-based solutions, and automation in customer journeys.
- IT students or professionals gain more experience in how to solve business problems with data and technology.
- Business people learn to recognize and utilize the possibilities of data, APIs, and other smart technologies in business development.

This course is based on Futudemy, a unique idea development concept created by Osaango Oy. The course features 4 x 2h Futudemy sessions, where you’ll generate new service ideas.

Even if you have no prior experience, you will learn how to make your idea “smarter” by using data and a technology called APIs (application programming interfaces), which is essential to using data and smart technologies. Learn more about APIs: https://youtu.be/cAC66ZkYb3M

Everyone needs to work on their idea actively, but you will innovate together with other students, partners, and mentors, such as Cisco and Osaango. You will need a few hours outside the joint session to develop the ideas further.

Methods
- This is a remote course with live sessions on the Futudemy platform.
- You will receive further information and materials during the first session.
- You will collaborate with other students during the sessions, but the final work will be assessed individually.

Sessions
Due to the learning experience, attending all of the online sessions is mandatory.

Learning objectives
After attending Futudemy, you will:
- Be able to use new methods to generate creative ideas
- Know how to use APIs, data, and smart technology as part of your service design
- Know how to work with a multi-disciplined team of business, industry, data, and IT experts to develop new ideas and solutions
- Be able to create a prototype of a future-ready idea that solves a business problem using data and smart technologies
- Have an idea you can develop further or put in your portfolio

Evaluation
The course will be evaluated with a pass/fail grade.

Co-operation with working life and/or RDI

This course is provided by Osaango Oy. In this course you will have technology companies as mentors, such as Cisco.

Learning outcomes

The student is able to:
- describe methods to generate creative ideas
- describe how to use APIs, data and smart technology as part of service design
- create a working prototype of a future-ready idea that solves a business problem using data and smart technologies
- prepare an effective pitch for an actual hackathon or business idea pitching session

Teaching methods

This course is suitable for all bachelor's programs. In t his course we will practice digital service design skills with real cases using data and smart technologies. All industries, even the most traditional and human-centric are becoming more data- and digitally driven. You need to be able to work together with people with different skills to solve new problems.
- Service designers can create better services, if they know how to include data, AI-based solutions and automation to customer journeys.
- IT professionals need more experience on how to solve business problems with data and technology.

This course is based on Futudemy, a unique idea development concept created by Osaango Oy. The course features 4 x 2h Futudemy sessions, where you’ll generate new service ideas. Even if you have no prior experience, you will l earn how to make your idea “smarter” by using data and a technology called APIs (application programming interfaces) which is essential to using data and smart technologies. Learn more about APIs: https://youtu.be/cAC66ZkYb3M

Everyone needs to actively work on their idea, but you will innovate together with other students, partners and mentors, such as Cisco and Osaango. You will need a few hours outside of the joint session to develop the ideas further.

Co-operation with working life and/or RDI

This course is provided by Osaango Oy. In this course you will have technology companies as mentors, such as Cisco.

Teaching methods

Futudemy Hackathon breaks silos between industries, business, design and technology to teach innovation and use of data, smart technologies and APIs as key ingredients to innovate better experiences and solutions to business and societal problems. This course is suitable for all bachelor's programs.

All industries, even the most traditional and human-centric are becoming more data- and digitally driven, while professionals from silos need to be able to work together to solve new problems, often with new technology and data that they’ve never even heard of.
- Business professionals need more understanding on digital and data solutions and business models.
- IT professionals need more experience on how to solve business problems with data and technology.
- Service designers need to include data, AI-based solutions, automation and even smart devices from washing machines to smart buildings to the customer journeys.
- Industry specialists from hospitality, security, nursing, and others need to be involved in the development of their industry, customer experience and practices.

This course is based on Futudemy, a unique idea development concept created by Osaango Oy. The hackathon-style course features 4 x 2h Futudemy sessions, where you’ll generate new business ideas based on data and APIs (application programming interfaces, essential to using data and smart technologies) together with other students, partners and mentors, such as Cisco.
Outside of the sessions you will have time to develop the ideas further while learning how to combine service design and business ideas with data, APIs and technology.

The data-driven business ideas can fit into any of the following themes: Healthcare & Social services, Security and risk management solutions, Experiences design, Information technology and cyber security or Legal design.
