A combination of the following technologies will be used:
(1) Ionic Framework combined with JavaScript, Angular and React
(2) Visual Studio Code (VS Code)
(3) HTML5 & CSS3 knowledge required

Location and time

o Fully online studies: Not dependent on place or time (online distance studies).

>> Complete weekly schedule will be provided to eligible and accepted students.
>> Teacher is sending a welcome email to accepted students with all the details.
>> Teaching provides volunteer tutoring (online or Laurea premise) as per the need of the student's learning process.

Learning materials and recommended literature

In this course, we are using the following materials: (1) Video based tutorials (2) Teacher's own step-by-step guide (3) Laurea Library materials

The student will learn two most important aspects of Mobile Applications Development:
1) Mobile Applications Design: The structured approach and science of designing a mobile application.
2) Mobile Applications Development: Step-by-step demonstration and learning a simple and basic cross-platform mobile applications development with Ionic framework.

Alternative completion methods of implementation

There is a possibility of taking final hands-on practical test and project work to demonstrate learning outcomes. Contact teacher for more details.

Co-operation with working life and/or RDI

Laurea announces certain possibilities along the study unit offering based on demand from our partner companies.

Students can collect points with weekly or biweekly learning activities, assignments and 2 tests.

Forms of internationality

Teachers and students group are international (Finnish and English degree programme students). We are also partnering with ICT companies for projects.

Kindly notice following carefully before registering for the study unit. This is a technical and professional training study unit and it requires regular weekly learning effort.

Prerequisite of the course (VERY IMPORTANT):
o An understanding of the Fundamentals of programming, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript can greatly benefit your learning experience.
o We don’t recommend this course if someone lacks the know-how on programming principles, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
o We have 40 seats available, and we give priority to those students with the prerequisites or ICT compulsory studies done.

NOTE: The student MUST finish their Fundamentals of Programming and Web Development Foundation (or) Have equivalent knowledge to benefit from this study unit. In the past, there is not a single student who passed this course without a Prerequisite. The student cannot learn much if previous know-how is missing.

The student can collect points with online learning, online assignments and 1 online test. The following are evaluation components:

(1) Orientation module: 01 X 03 = 03 points
(2) Module Learning Reflections (Total-06): 06 X 02 = 12 points
(3) Hands-on Labwork 1 to 4: 04 X 05 = 20 points
(4) Online Test (Total-1): 20 X 01 = 20 (Note: The test threshold (minimum) is 6 points. And overall 50 points minimum to pass the course.)
(5) Team Project: Hands-on labwork 5 & 6: = 40 points
(6) Personal learning reflections and conclusion: 01 X 05 = 05

1) Mobile Applications Design: The structured approach and science of designing a mobile application.
2) Mobile Applications Development: Step-by-step demonstration and learning a simple and basic cross-platform mobile applications development with Ionic framework.

Alternative completion methods of implementation

NOTE: The student MUST finish their Fundamentals of Programming and Web Development Foundation (or) Have equivalent knowledge to benefit from this study unit.
