Learning outcomes

The student will be able to:
- communicate appropriately and purposefully, orally and in writing, in communication and documentation situations required in their professional field
- identify the content, structural, and linguistic features of the most important text genres in their professional field and apply them in practice
- utilize language editing tools professionally and ethically
- use source references according to the university guidelines

Further information

The study unit is intended for those
1) whose language of school education is not Finnish
2) who have studied Finnish as second language (S2) in a vocational institution or a general upper secondary school and have, in the latter case, received no higher than grade C for the S2 language in the matriculation examination.

This study unit is a core competence unit and it cannot be included in the complementary competence studies. Moreover, students whose language of school education is Finnish cannot select this study unit.

Students who have completed this study unit will not have any entry in their degree certificate stating that they have attained the required Finnish skills but it will be stated in the certificate that they have completed S2 studies.
