Teaching methods
The working method includes project work in teams. Conducting a cybersecurity project develops the students’ skills in planning, developing, and managing cybersecurity tasks as a part of international research, development and innovation (RDI) project.
The team makes research work in one of Lurea's RDI projects.
The team follows the project framework (PMBOK or similar) and uses provided project document templates.
The team applies selected information security framework with chosen context.
The result of the project is the deliverables (for example demonstrable technical solution, final project report, or research paper) that demonstrate the results in a proper manner.
The team will report their progress through video presentations that other teams will peer-review.
The team will present their results at the end of the study unit in a seminar. The presentation can be a beforehand recorded video.
Learning materials and recommended literature
Public deliverables of the target RDI project, open-source academic articles.
Alternative completion methods of implementation
According to the degree regulations “all students are entitled to demonstrate their competence. The recognition and accreditation of prior competence is initiated by the students themselves. The competence is recognised and accredited by the teacher responsible for the module or study unit or another person designated by the director of the UAS unit. The assessment is carried out according to the same criteria and grading scale as that adopted for the corresponding study unit.” For further information visit the student intranet.
Co-operation with working life and/or RDI
The student team makes research work in one of Lurea's RDI projects.
Important dates
Every student should be a member of one of the student teams before January 31.
Forms of internationality
Most of Laurea's research, development and innovation projects are international ones. The study unit is suitable for exchange students.

- take sole responsibility for working as a member cybersecurity project team (project target varies including research, innovation, business, cyber ranges, cyber drill or cyber defense projects)
- act ethically as a member of project team, community and working-life partners
- plan, implement and document cybersecurity research project
- select and apply appropriate frameworks and methods for cybersecurity research project
- present research results in the academic and business format
- manifest cybersecurity professional practices and apply practitioners skills in the community
Content
Note: The learning targets can be advance studies in one or more
of following (not limited to only those): cybersecurity practices,
cyber ranges, cyber drills, cyber forensics, cyber war, cyber
defence, cybersecurity for AI and robotics, cybersecurity for
blockchain, cybersecurity for supply chain management and
relevant advance cybersecurity topics.
Teaching methods
The working method includes project work in teams. Conducting a cybersecurity project develops the students’ skills in planning, developing, and managing cybersecurity tasks as a part of international research, development and innovation (RDI) project.
The team makes research work in one of Lurea's RDI projects.
The team follows the project framework (PMBOK) and uses provided project document templates
The team applies selected information security framework with chosen context
The result of the project is the deliverables (for example demonstrable technical solution, final project report, or research paper) that demonstrate the results in a proper manner

Important dates
Every student should be a member of one of the student teams before January 31.
Forms of internationality
Most of Laurea's research, development and innovation projects are international ones. The study unit is suitable for exchange students.
