The student is able to
- apply and assess good practices related to team participation and management in a shift
- assess their own activities and the actions of the work community and team from the perspectives of quality, cost-effectiveness and sustainable development
- actively support goal-oriented work, community well-being and team spirit through their own communication
- motivate and guide members of their work community and give feedback
- describe their and the team’s role in building the organisation's brand and reputation and creating the customer service experience
- identify and meet the interaction-related needs of a seriously ill or palliative care patient and their significant others
- build a care relationship with a seriously ill and palliative care patients and their significant others

Suitable practice environments

All healthcare and social welfare units treating terminally ill patients, such as

inpatient wards at health centres
hospital wards (e.g. lung diseases, neurology, internal medicine and endocrinology, cardiac wards, infection wards, respiratory paralysis units, psychiatry, cancer and haematological diseases, including appropriate paediatric wards)
Home care units
Suitable crisis management units
round-the-clock assisted living units, i.e. intensified assisted living units, old people's homes and assisted living facilities
geriatric outpatient clinics, memory clinics
other outpatient clinics related to the treatment of terminally ill patients
Palliative and hospice care units, such as

Regional home hospitals and their support departments
palliative wards, hospice wards and hospices
palliative outpatient clinics
Day hospitals
A placement environment that supports professional competence chosen by the student
