Evaluation criteria, fail (0)

The discontinuation and rejection of work placement promoting professional skills will be assessed based on the criteria below.

Just one of the criteria below alone is enough to discontinue or reject a work placement.

The student has no realistic possibility to reach the goals set for the placement despite support and guidance for example for the following reasons: not committing to the placement, lacking essential knowledge and skills, not having made learning objectives.

2. The student acts against Laurea University of Applied Sciences rules of order during the placement.

3. The student, by repeatedly or seriously endangering the health or safety of another person, has proven to be manifestly unsuitable to perform practical assignments or practical training relating to studies (Universities of Applied Sciences Act section 33).

4. It is apparent that the student’s state of health or functional capacity makes him or her incapable of performing the practical tasks or practical training included in the studies (Universities of Applied Sciences Act section 26).

5. The student has severe deficiencies when it comes to working life skills (for example following the shift schedule, repeatedly neglecting the rules and norms of the working environment) which prevents the placement continuing, and the student will not amend their behavior accordingly despite having been asked to do so.
***

The placement cannot be passed if

the student neglects the practices agreed in the placement agreement.
the student has not delivered documents related to the placement (work shift schedule, placement assessment information) and or/assignment.
***

The discontinuation or rejection of work placement promoting professional skills must always be documented in writing with the student, working life supervisor, and supervising teacher. The written documentation must be signed.

A safety report (HSE system) must always be made when a placement is rejected.

Qualifications

The student has actively participated in the study unit "Medication Treatment and Medication Calculations 2." and has passed the medication calculations prior to the clinical practice placement starts.
