Responsible Leadership in a Work Community (5 cr)

Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- illustrate the principles of an immediate manager’s and immediate supervisor’s work
- identify the concepts related to human resource management, practical human resource planning and development of work
- act in a goal-oriented manner in work situations in the organisation
- apply basic legislation on management and the basics of occupational safety and health, and well-being at work
- work in accordance with an organisation’s ethical principles in multicultural work communities
- demonstrate a professional attitude and be a responsible actor in the work community

The student is able to
- demonstrate knowledge of the principles of an immediate supervisor’s work and a coaching management style
- observe the strategy and values of correctional services in supervisory work
- apply the practices of human resource management in correctional services
- apply labour legislation and the Administrative Procedure Act in managerial work

Location and time

Opintojakso toteutetaan pääosin verkko-opintona, mutta jakso aloitetaan yhteisellä kontaktitunnilla 28.9 luokassa B402. Seuraava kontaktiopetus on 5.10 luokassa B401. Tällöin mukana on asiantuntija. Tätä tapaamista ennen on opiskelijan tullut tutustuttua hänelle lähetettyyn englanninkieliseen artikkeliin, laatia siitä 1-2 s. teksti + kaksi kysymystä. Tämän hän on lähettänyt etukäteen sekä opintojakson vastuuopettajalle että asiantuntijavieraalle viimeistään 30.9 mennessä. Tärkemmat ohjeet löytyvät Canvasista opintojakson sivuilta. Viimeinen tapaaminen on 9.11 luokassa B401.

Teaching methods

Johtajuuden jakso toteutetaan pääosin verkko-opintona oppimistehtävien ja itseopiskelumateriaalien kautta. Opiskelumateriaalit verkossa ovat englannin kielellä, kontaktit toteutetaan sekä suomen että englannin kielellä.
