Learning outcomes

After completing this course, you as a student
- have gotten acquainted with the guidelines of responsible conduct of research
- have identified one's rights and responsibilities as a thesis worker
- are able to follow and apply the guidelines of responsible conduct of research in one's thesis
- are familiar with the regulations related to the handling and processing of personal data necessary for doing the thesis
- are able to evaluate the necessity of preliminary ethical review in one's thesis or research

Teaching methods

Self-paced online course. The course is completed entirely independently by the end of the course deadline. You will study the material in an online learning environment, which includes study materials and assignments/tests. No personal feedback will be provided on the assignments.

Exam schedules

The course workspace will remain open until the end of the course deadline (see Timing), and all assignments must be completed before the workspace closes.

The course is part of the thesis process for Master’s students (YAMK) who started their studies in 2021 in programs taught in English. Students that have begun their studies later will study the content of this course as part of the "Developing and Management of Studying Skills in Master's Studies" course. Enrollment for the course is done via Pakki. Enrollments are processed almost daily. You will receive a completion record for the course within two weeks after finishing. During holiday periods, enrollments and completion records are processed less frequently.
