Tavoitteet

The student is able to
- identify and analyse factors that increase vulnerability, the related support needs and their significance in nursing
- analyse special needs related to multicultural client relationships and immigration in social and health care
- encounter vulnerable clients in nursing and service situations in a sensitive manner
- promote participation, inclusion and rehabilitation of vulnerable clients and their significant others as part of nursing care
- describe the service network of vulnerable client groups and the tasks of different operators as part of the care and service chain and to consult other experts
- critically assess service processes in the social and health care sector from the perspective of vulnerable client groups and implement service guidance
- utilise evidence-based information and recommendations in the guidance and nursing care of clients in a vulnerable position and clients with an immigrant background
- analyse their own and other people's myths, beliefs and prejudices against vulnerable client groups and promote the development of positive attitudes

Toteutustapa

Teacher: Marina Arvonen
A Canvas learning environment is used to support the implementation, but it is important to take part in teaching and guidance on campus according to schedule. The study unit includes working in groups with finish students during project work. You will receive individual feedback for assignments from the teacher, and working life or peer feedback may also be utilised.

Project work is big part of that course and project day 13.3 is compulsory.

You may also be able to complete this study unit at work as a work-based learning (TOPI). If you are considering this option, please contact the course teacher by email.
The work-based learning is completed by separate assignment in your own work. In the assignment, you will become familiar with the key concepts of the course and the materials of the Canvas workspace. You can use the Canvas material as sources in the assignment of work-based learning.

There is going to be several compulsory days including project planning and projectday. Changes for compulsory dates are still possible. Look for schedule. You will get final information in orientation. (compusory).

Identifying factors and situations in life that increase vulnerability (e.g. unemployment, poverty, disability, high need for healthcare services, immigration, and cultural background factors)
- Immigrant service needs and specific health promotion issues
- Service guidance, service needs assessment, and service plan as a working method in nursing
- Peer support organizations
- Special features of interaction and guidance in meeting vulnerable clients

Lisätiedot

This study unit includes project work with finish students. The project work will be implemented in small groups and it will be documented through a written project plan and report.

Evaluated work is project plan and report for project day and attendance in compulsory days.


In the evaluation of the study, the criteria by the requirement level II of the competence assessment framework of the bachelor's degree student are used.
