Learning outcomes
The students will be able to
analyse patient care, the service given and working practices in the work community in terms of effectiveness of care, safety, operative quality and cost effectiveness

Teaching methods
Student is to work as a student nurse in a nursing clinical environment.
Alternative completion methods of implementation
Student may decide to do this clinical placement as paid practice / summer job as a substitute RN in a clinical environment. More information how to get paid practice recognized, please see Optima - Degree Clinical practice workspace for more detailed information. Paid practice must be agreed in advance with tutor teacher.
Co-operation with working life and/or RDI
Clinical placement / practice is done in co-operation of the health care provider.
Important dates
Students who wish to graduate in December 2020 and participate to the graduation ceremony, must finish the practice latest in the end of week 48. This way the teachers will be able to grade and give credits for the practice on time for graduation.
Students workload
15 credits = 405 hours of student work
397 hours should be done in practice environment + 8 hours assignment
To complete 15 credits in practice takes about 10 weeks.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Students self-assessment against the personal goals the student has set for him/herself
Nurse-supervisors assessment of students performance in practice and evaluation against students own goals & objectives.
Supervising teachers assessment via guidance phonecalls / visits to practice place and discussion with students & nurse-supervisor.
Studyunits goals must be met.
Practice paperwork must be returned on time to Optima file.
