Learning outcomes
The student
- has a basic command of English grammar
- is able to use study-related and work-related vocabulary
- is able to use various strategies and tools to develop language skills
Teaching methods
A virtual implementation via Zoom, both live and recorded lessons. The live lessons are both in English (slides, discussion, Q&A) and in Finnish (teacher's speech). Of course, if there are students present who do not understand any Finnish, English instruction is available.
Location and time
The course is a virtual course, mostly according to the student's own schedules.

Important dates
This is a virtual course during autumn 2021. The study platform will open before the first lesson and the final exam must be done on the last lesson day or before it.

Pass/ Fail
Students must submit and pass an essay and an oral presentation before taking the final exam.
Qualifications
This study unit is exclusively available to students who received a 'fail' grade on the initial English language test. Students who have passed the test will not be accepted into the study unit.
