Learning outcomes

The student is able to:
- develop and manage LAN services
- identify common network applications for companies and the
security threats directed at them.
- plan, design, develop and implement the secure ICT
infrastructure with needed network applications

Teaching methods

The study unit implementation is based on doing assignments in Canvas and practical network configuration assignments in virtual environment.

Location and time

The first on-line meeting is mandatory to verify the enlistment.

Learning materials and recommended literature

Cisco CCENT/CCNA ICND1 and CCNA ICND2, 2nd or 3rd ed.

Alternative completion methods of implementation

There are assignments to be done weekly at Canvas. The lab work is done virtual environment, hands-on support is available.

The first meeting is mandatory.

The implementation requires weekly attendance to the lab work and also doing weekly assigments in virtual learning environment.

The evaluation is based on the assignments at Canvas and mandatory lab work.

Evaluation criteria, fail (0)

The student has not participated in the course work.

Evaluation criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Student has shown some competence at practical assignments, finished most assignments at Canvas satisfactorily and shown some understanding of network design and -security issues in the final assignment.

Evaluation criteria, good (3-4)

Student has finished the assignments both at lab and in Canvas well and has demonstrated good skills and understanding of networking issues in the final assignment.

Evaluation criteria, excellent (5)

Student has demonstrated excellent skills in the various assignment and has been able to incorporate his/her learning in the final network design assignment innovatively.

For BIT students: study units R0277 ICT Environment and Infrastructure, R0279 Information Management and Databases & R0280 Data Networks and Information Security
Or equivalent competence.
