The student is able to

Teaching methods
During the study unit, students will orientate to planning their own studies, employment and improving career management skills. Students will recognize the learning methods that are best suited for them.
The following topics are discussed in the study unit:
- Using Canvas
- Familiarisation with the curriculum and the degree structure
- Self-direction
- Own learning styles
- Planning of studies
- Central guidelines at Laurea
The purpose of the guidance during the study unit is to support students in finding different options for their study path and professional development, not to give complete solutions.
Discussions on the study plan are conducted either in person or in goal-oriented small groups. During the study unit, the tutor teachers will also give guidance on practices related to studying.
NB! In case of corona restrictions, the course takes place online, using Canvas and other digital solutions.

Students workload
Estimated distribution of working hours in the study unit (total 54 hrs):
- Orientation week 10 hrs
- Discussions on the personal study plan 4 hrs, including preparation
- Assignments and participation in guidance 40 hrs

Course attendance requirements:
Attendance is compulsory for all lessons unless agreed separately.
You need to attend a minimum of 75% of classes. In case your absences exceed 50% of contact hours, you need to consult your tutor on how to finalize the course (this could mean retaking the whole course, doing supplementary tasks or taking additional classes, if available).
For supplementary or delayed tasks, there will be no feedback
