Rehabilitation Networks (Placement) (10 op)

Tavoitteet

The student is able to:
- describe physiotherapy as a part of the multidisciplinary rehabilitation system
- implement and assess physiotherapy in the development of services and utilize client-centred networks and partnerships
- evaluate the potential of quality and management of physiotherapy work and entrepreneurial activities in the development of user-centred services
- build and evaluate their professionality and its development in client-centred rehabilitation communities and multidisciplinary networks developing rehabilitation services
- communicate fairly fluently and spontaneously with clients and their significant others in Finnish
- work well in physiotheraphy environment using Finnish language

Toteutustapa

This course is a practical training in a physiotherapy environment. A 10-credit placement corresponds to approximately 7 weeks of training (9 credits of practical training = 243 hours and 1 credit of learning assignment = 27 hours). Registration for the internship is done at the same time as for other courses in Pakki. At the beginning of the internship, the student sets their own learning objectives in Canvas. The achievement of these objectives is monitored in a guidance discussion (the supervising teacher, the supervising physiotherapist, and the student) and in the final discussion of the internship (the supervising teacher and the student).

Toteutuksen tärkeät päivämäärät

The scheduled time for the placement is visible in Pakki. If you complete the placement at a different time, please contact your tutor teacher. Important dates:
- Report the placement period and place at least 3 weeks before the start of the placement
- Arrange guidance meetings with the supervising teacher.
- Set the goals for the placement by the end of the first week of the placement.
- Submit the learning assignment for the placement one week after the end of the placement

Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat

According to the degree regulations (2024), "Students are entitled to apply for recognition of prior learning regardless of where, when and how the competence has been acquired. At Laurea, there are two different procedures for the recognition and accreditation of prior learning: a) accreditation of prior learning (competence acquired in higher education studies at another institution) and b) demonstration of competence (competence acquired in other ways). The recognition and accreditation of prior learning is initiated by the student themselves. The student is responsible for demonstrating and verifying their competence. The student is entitled to guidance for the recognition and accreditation of their competence. Further information in the student intranet.

You may also assess work-based learning as a way to acquire the competence needed. Read more in the student intranet.

Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus

One credit equals approximately 26.7 hours of work performed by the student.

Arviointikriteerit, hyväksytty/hylätty

The placement is rejected if the student does not meet the criteria for an approved placement. In addition, the placement will be considered rejected if:
Student:
- has not defined and recorded his goals, and has not presented them to the instructor/supervising teacher as agreed
- acts unethically
- the activity is unprofessional in relation to the study phase
- acts contrary to the work unit's principles and instructions (e.g. not following instructions on clothing and asepsis, planned working hours)
- does not present an explanation for his absences, and does not present a substitute for the
absence plan
- does not change his/her activities based on feedback and self-reflection
- endangers own, cleint's/patient safety and/or the safety of the working community.
- does not do/return learning assignments as agreeded
- does not justify his own activities using the knowledge base of his professional field relative to the study phase

If one of the aforementioned criteria is met, the placement is rejected.
