Toteutustapa
Project implementation mode: the project will be carried out as a P2P project in cooperation with the University del Desarrollo Project Group (https://www.udd.cl/about-us /) AND with companies from both countries looking to expand business in Finland/EU and Chile/Latin America.
Project content: International Business Development, target market research (macro- and microlevel), business opportunities identification, client search, partner search. Cross-cultural communication and teamwork.
The aim (15 credits) is that the student is able to
- research and manage customer / market potential
- analyze and use business reports in projects
- use strategic planning, analysis and decision making tools in project contexts
- make business decisions in various project contexts
The project is completed in cooperation with a working life partner in a P2P learning environment. Working life partner is a company from Finland and a company from Chile.
The enrolled students will develop their competencies related to the study in question during this project implementation.
Project will include TWO INTENSIVE WEEKS where 100% attendance is mandatory.
First Intensive working week the Finnish team will visit Chile 13.3-17.3 2023. Laurea will cover the costs for flights and accommodation (Laurea Degree Students). Second Intensive working week the Chilean team will visit Finland 8.5-12.5.2023. The Finnish team will plan and implement the week's schedule and activities within the planned budget.
Daytime learning:
An independently studied part supports the project implementation, but it is important to take part in project teamwork and guidance on campus according to schedule. Studying requires active participation and commitment to interactive project work and 100% attendance during the intensive weeks. You will receive feedback for assignments from the teacher, and working life and peer feedback are also utilised.
Project’s guidance and working sessions can be viewed in Timetable Engine. Communication practices are agreed on a project-specific basis.

According to the degree regulations (section 18) "students must be present for the first contact teaching session, or they must notify the responsible teacher of their absence to confirm they intend to participate in studies… Registration for the study unit will be rejected, if the student does not notify the teacher of being absent from the first contact teaching session or the reason for their absence cannot be considered justified." The first contact session in a project means the first meeting between the project team and the supervisor (pre-brief). Pre-briefing 17.1. 10-11 o'clock, Laurea Hyvinkää Campus, room 3-18.
It is compulsory to participate in the project kickoff meeting so that everyone participating in the project will receive the information on the project task. Kickoff meeting 17.1. 13-14 o'clock, Laurea Hyvinkää Campus, room 3-18.
Project guidance is offered on a weekly basis. The student can compare the available guidance sessions in Timetable Engine and select those projects/studies that do not overlap.
Guidance on Tuesdays 1200-1330 o'clock, when Chilean team will be participating (starting March) the timing is later during Tuesday afternoons.
Kansainvälisyys toteutuksella
The project will be implemented with a team of students and staff from University del Desarrollo, students will be divided to smaller working teams so that Finnish and Chilean students work together. Guidance is provided by Chilean and Finnish lecturer. The project will include one intensive week in Chile and one in Finland.
Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat
All students are entitled to demonstrate their competence. The recognition and accreditation of prior competence is initiated by the students themselves. The competence is recognized and accredited by the teacher responsible for the studies or another person designated to the position. The assessment is carried out according to the same assessment criteria and, as a rule, same grading scale as that adopted for the corresponding study unit or module. The student is entitled to apply for accreditation of prior competence regardless of where, how and when the competence has been acquired. The student may also seek accreditation of competence to be acquired on the job as part of their degree (work-based learning). ... The student is responsible for demonstrating and verifying their competence and for providing sufficient information.
Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus
The student spends approximately 16 hours of weekly working time on the project; in other words, approximately 8 hrs for teamwork and approximately 8 hrs for independent work per week.
