Current Developments and Innovations in Social and Health Care in Finland (5 op)

Tavoitteet

The student is able to
- understand the Finnish social and health care system in the context of national and international social and health policy
- identify and evaluate the social and health needs on individual and community level in Finland in comparison to his/ her own country
- recognise differences / similarities in current developments and innovations in the social and health care service systems, social and health care programs, laws, regulations and economic factors in comparison to his/ her own country
- recognise different methods of client and patient empowerment within social and health care in comparison to his/ her own country

Oppimateriaali ja suositeltava kirjallisuus

Learning / teaching methods:
Lectures, study visits, group work, seminar, written learning assignment, individual tutorial support.
Study visits to different social and health care services will be organized during the course.
•Additional places for possible visits:
Health care centre in Vantaa, Peijas Hospital, Elderly care home, Center for senior citizens, Child and Maternity Centre, School health services, Voluntary sector

Toteutustapa

In this study module students will be able to gain expertise on different innovative solutions and best practices aimed to promote health and wellbeing globally, on individual, community and society level. Students will be able to analyze and evaluate the social and health care service systems, social and health care programs, laws, regulations and economic factors in comparison to his/ her own country.

Kansainvälisyys toteutuksella

International Exchange students and Laurea Dergee programs of Nursing and Social Services Students would participate this study module. International visiting professionals and lecturers would also join as teachers.
