- assess their suitability for oneself, taking into account one's own life situation
- describe the multiple roles of a co-owner in each form of entrepreneurship (startup, traditional and buyout entrepreneurship) separately and able to reflect on and describe the most suitable role for oneself

Teaching methods

An online course that can be completed at your own speed.

Important dates

An online course that can be completed at your own speed.

Content and scheduling

Starting your own business is not for everyone. For someone who needs security, paid work might be the smartest career option. However, it does not rule out the possibility of co-ownership. Acquiring a partnership is significantly less risky than starting your own company and is suitable for a wider group of people. It is one way to realize entrepreneurial dreams, but without the uncertainty that comes with entrepreneurship. Co-ownership is at its lightest like paid work, but with entrepreneurial benefits. You can even practice co-ownership as a side business, in addition to paid work.

From the point of view of owner control, companies can be divided into three categories: startup entrepreneurship, traditional entrepreneurship and buyout entrepreneurship. The course introduces the main differences between these three forms of entrepreneurship from the point of view of the co-owner and offers tools and ideas for starting your own partnership path.

After the course, the student can:

Teaching methods

WANT TO UPGRADE YOUR DIGITAL ANALYTICS SKILLS?

The amount of data is growing rapidly in the world, in any field of business. This requires deeper understanding the consumer/user behavior, data analytics skills and understanding of big data and artificial intelligence (AI).

This is an experimental sprint week in August, week 33, 14-20.8.2023. It requires FULL TIME PARTICIPATION from students 9-17, Monday to Friday.

Students will be RANDOMLY divided into two groups. First group will do the project & team work ONLINE and the other group will be doing the same FACE-TO-FACE at Laurea Leppävaara -campus (at Digital Living Lab/009). The content and facilitation for both methods is the same and coaches are available all the time. Students will know their group during June 2023.

The students of this study unit will participate in the research about learning. The permission will be asked from all the students for collecting, analyzing and publishing the data (anonymously). The research will be conducted by main coach, Asko Mononen, who is currently doing his PhD studies at the National Defence University of Finland related to pedagogics and AI. The pre-and post questionnaires will be conducted to find out the student’s attitudes and experiences, and they do not require any preparation, nor affect the grading. The grading for this study unit is passed/failed, so all actively participating students will pass the course.

Location and time

Depending on the group, a) online or b) at Laurea Leppävaara-campus, Digital Living Lab 009.

Students will be informed in June 2023 which group they belong to.

Teaching methods

Time: On Tuesdays 16:00-18:00 EET: 5.9.2023 - 26.9.2023
Location: Online on Futudemy platfrom! Link in Canvas LMS

The course is useful for students in service design, digital services, computer science, business studies, security management, project management, entrepreneurship, or future studies.

Content
In Futudemy we will practice digital service design skills with real cases using data and smart technologies. Even the most traditional and human-centric industries are becoming more data- and digitally-driven. You need to be able to work together with people with different skills to solve new problems.
- Service designers can create better services if they know how to include data, AI-based solutions, and automation in customer journeys.
- IT students or professionals gain more experience in how to solve business problems with data and technology.
- Business people learn to recognize and utilize the possibilities of data, APIs, and other smart technologies in business development.

This course is based on Futudemy, a unique idea development concept created by Osaango Oy. The course features 4 x 2h Futudemy sessions, where you’ll generate new service ideas.

Even if you have no prior experience, you will learn how to make your idea “smarter” by using data and a technology called APIs (application programming interfaces), which is essential to using data and smart technologies. Learn more about APIs: https://youtu.be/cAC66ZkYb3M

Everyone needs to work on their idea actively, but you will innovate together with other students, partners, and mentors, such as Cisco and Osaango. You will need a few hours outside the joint session to develop the ideas further.

Methods
- This is a remote course with live sessions on the Futudemy platform.
- You will receive further information and materials during the first session.
- You will collaborate with other students during the sessions, but the final work will be assessed individually.

Sessions
Due to the learning experience, attending all of the online sessions is mandatory.

Learning objectives
After attending Futudemy, you will:
- Be able to use new methods to generate creative ideas
- Know how to use APIs, data, and smart technology as part of your service design
- Know how to work with a multi-disciplined team of business, industry, data, and IT experts to develop new ideas and solutions
- Be able to create a prototype of a future-ready idea that solves a business problem using data and smart technologies
- Have an idea you can develop further or put in your portfolio

Evaluation
The course will be evaluated with a pass/fail grade.

Co-operation with working life and/or RDI

This course is provided by Osaango Oy. In this course you will have technology companies as mentors, such as Cisco.
