Learning outcomes

The students will be able to
explain the main psychiatric disorders and the medical grounds for care
explain the mechanisms of the most common intoxicants
explain the operating principles of mental health and substance abuse nursing
to support clients who are experiencing an acute crisis and are acutely ill
plan, maintain and evaluate professional interaction in care relationship with mental health or substance abuse clients and their significant others
plan, implement and evaluate pharmacological therapies for mental health and substance abuse patients

Exam is primarily based on all the material in Optima and during lessons.

Teaching methods

The student is be able to:
- explain the main psychiatric disorders and the medical grounds for care
- explain the mechanisms of the most common intoxicants

- to support clients who are experiencing an acute crisis and are acutely ill
