Learning outcomes

The students will be able to
analyse the basis of decision-making in a multidisciplinary team in clinical nursing
describe nurses’ responsibilities and obligations in assessing the need for and urgency of care
make decisions by using methods of clinical examination of the patient, care need assessment, digital decision aids and consultation
recognise changes that threat vital functions and plan, implement and evaluate clinical nursing procedures that support vital functions
explain the main illnesses and injuries in the field of surgery and the medical grounds for care
describe the different fields of anaesthesiology and the different anaesthesia forms
plan, carry out and evaluate perioperative nursing
justify the practices and medicines used advanced life support
plan, implement and evaluate administration of intravenous medication, infusions and nutrition

Teaching methods

This study unit contains the theoretical studies for acute care and perioperative (surgical) care nursing. The workshops and simulations are taught is V1611 Professional Development in Practice III study unit.
Study unit is taught either in contact or via Zoom - teacher makes the decision according to Covid- 19 situation.
Student MUST be present in the orientation of this study unit.
During orientation we will divide the group to workshop groups.

Study material will be available on Canvas platform.
