Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- describe the main concepts and the operating environments of nursing
- have a professional discussion on the core values in nursing and on the application of the ethical principles of the profession
- explain the importance of the main acts and regulations governing social welfare and health care
- plan, implement and evaluate nursing care and activities of daily living under guidance
- document nursing according to the national model under guidance
- apply methods and operational models that promote patient safety and occupational safety in patient care

-Kozier B & Erb, G & Berman, A. Snyder, s. 7th or 8th edition. FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING. Concepts, Process, and Practice. Pearson, Prentice Hall. - parts / page numbers will be informed in the course orientation / 1. lecture.
-Introduction to Evidence-Based Practice : A Practical Guide for Nursing by Hopp Lisa and Rittenmeyer Leslie (e-book, available on-line free of charge via school library) link will be provided later.
-Other study material will be given by the lecturer

Further information

Because this course forms the bases for the nursing profession, student participation during contact lessons is very important.
If a student is absent from contact lesson, they will have to do a make up assignment to show their understanding of the subject matter. If the absences are more than three, the student will write an exam on the given topics.
