Learning outcomes

The student is able to:
- speak and understand Finnish in very basic and familiar everyday situations
- find information in very short texts and write simple messages
- use some of the basic grammar structures
- become familiar with Finnish cultural manners and customs
- reach the target level of A1.1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Laurea Tikkurila at the campus
On autumn period, starting in September, finishing latest in December (on working days during daytime)

Teaching methods

Contact lessons with some assignments
Optima workspace in use (information, material, homework & remote assignment returning)

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Grades 1-5 in use (0 if the course is not passed).
The final course grade consists of:
- the results of the tests and exam
- performance in making homework & remote tasks
- presence and activity at the contact lessons

How to describe oneself (personal information), numbers, telling the time, countries, languages, nationalities, family vocabulary,days of the week, months,pronunciation, basic grammar (positive and negative verb conjugation, case endings etc.), becoming familiar with Finnish culture and customs, etc.
Tutoring and communication:
Finnish language used on the lessons, English too always when needed
