Learning outcomes
The student is able to
- name the different isomers of organic compounds and explain their meaning in the compounds used in cosmetics.
- identify and describe the basic principles of oxidation-reduction reactions and their significance in chemical reactions.
- determine the practical significance of oxidation numbers in oxidation and reduction reactions.
- explain the chemical properties of acids and bases and their effect on the pH level of substances.
- interpret the importance of pH values for the properties and chemical processes of a product.
- illustrate the importance of commonly used compound groups in cosmetic products at a general level.
