Learning outcomes
The student is able to:
- analyze the possibilities of utilizing and processing Cassini satellite data and evaluate critically their impact on professional skill development.
- apply development methods in a multidisciplinary expert group and lead collaboration to share expertise and create synergy.
- argue and justify the advantages of a new idea clearly and convincingly to various stakeholders, utilizing strategic communication and influencing techniques.
Teaching methods
2 ETC (open university):
- Participation to the webinars and workshops organized before the Hackathon 28.4.-8.5.2025, information is updated on the Hackathon website
7.5. klo 19 one Big Ideas webinar is organized, other webinar times are confirmed later on.
- Participation in the Hackathon weekend in Vantaa 16-18.5.2025
- Participation in the Demo Day 21.5.
5 ETC (enrolled students of Laurea study programs):
- Participation in the Kick-off info for students
- Participation in the webinars before the Hackathon
- Individual and group work during the Hackathon
- Participation in the Demo Day after the Hackathon
- Portolio consisting of deliverables of the groupwork at the Hackathon & a report (8-10 pages) that describes the students role in the hackathon and the presentation of results, including the participant names of the group, self-reflection of how the project influenced own learning
- an expert blog about how the field the student studies is likely to develop in the future, if the Cassini tools are used.
The student is able to…

Portfolion koostaminen Hackathonin aikana tehdyistä tuotoksista ja 8-10 sivun loppuraportti, jossa kuvataan opiskelijan omasta roolista kunkin tapahtuman lopputuotoksen rakentamisessa sekä muiden ryhmän jäsenten nimet sekä arvio tapahtuman merkityksestä omalle oppimiselle sekä blogikirjoitus oman toimialan tulevaisuuden näkymistä.

Study credits are given to students who participate in the Hackathon and in the webinars before the Hackathon and to the Demo Day after the Hackathon (2 ETC).
The Hackathon will be in English. The Hackathon weekend is organized in person in Vantaa and simultaneously in 10 other countries. The webinars and Demo Day are organized via remote connection.
Enroll to the course to get study points, but remember to register your team as Hackathon participants also via the official CASSINI Hackathon-registration page https://www.cassini.eu/hackathons/finland.
Challenges:
1. Monitoring disease outbreaks and health risks (tracking, prediction, mapping, apps and tools)
2. Smart emergency healthcare delivery (telemedicine)
3. Mental health and well-being (environmental stress-monitoring, personalized well-being support, urban management and planning)
