The goal of the MAPA® (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) training program is to enable students to manage challenging behavior of clients or patients, prioritizing care and risk minimization. The MAPA® training program includes various restraint options to help manage different levels of challenging behavior.

The training involves studying the theoretical foundations using a workbook, along with various practical exercises. The theoretical part covers topics such as communication in challenging client situations, the development and escalation of challenging behavior, legislation regulating actions, the use of a decision-making matrix, and debriefing after crisis situations. Practical exercises include approaches to engagement, communication, and managing anger. Additionally, participants practice skills related to blocking punches and kicks, disengagement, and restraint techniques at low, medium, and high-risk levels, both standing and seated. The training also addresses the specific characteristics of working with children and the elderly. MAPA promotes safe working practices and activities for the benefit of clients, patients, and staff.

MAPA basics theory day is mandatory before the training day. You cannot participate in a training day without a theory day. The training day takes place in small groups according to the small group division. The workbook given at the theory day must
be included in the training day.
