Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- calculate medication doses correctly
- provide safe medication and fluid therapy for pregnant or nursing women, children, and elderly people in different nursing environments.

Teaching methods

Medication calculations are reviewed in orientation and workshops.
The theory of pharmacotherapy is studied partly independently in a learning environment on Canvas.

Exam schedules

Orientation and workshop mandatory.

A failed exam can be retaken twice. Failure to participate in the actual exam is counted as one pass. (Laurea's Degree Regulations) After three attempts, the calculation test can be calculated in a support workshop.

Content scheduling

Special features of pharmacotherapy for different ages (scope 0.5 ECTS)
- Independent Work on Canvas and Zoom teaching
-Final exam on the subject as a home exam

Medication calculation (0,5 ECTS).
- weight based calculations and further dilution calculations
- medication calculation workshop
- medication calculation exam supervised on campus

Further information

Medication treatment and Medication Calculation The theory and calculations of the 4th course must be completed 2 weeks before the start of the 4th module training.

Not being able to attend the workshop, e.g. due to illness is not an obstacle to go to the 4th training. The workshop can be replaced in a later course implementation.
