Learning outcomes

Care for Europe Erasmus+ KA2 project aims to internationalise nursing courses through a better integration of incoming nursing students during their clinical placements. The aim of the project is to create digital material for international nursing students to support their orientation and integration to the clinical placement in hospital environment and to inform them about the culture and language in receiving country. Nursing students will learn about intercultural competencies in nursing profession and they will learn more about nurses work, education and career possibilities in different countries in Europe.

The student is able to
-develop intercultural competencies related to nursing profession
-describe similarities and differences in nursing profession in different European countries
-develop evidence based digital learning material
-develop project management skills

Location and time

Sping 2023, Tikkurila campus /online (according to the students' preferences).
Students will get more detailed information about the course via email in the end of January 2023

Teaching methods

This course is open for all nursing students in Laurea who have been in clinical placement during their nursing studies.

Care for Europe Erasmus+ KA2 project aims to internationalise nursing courses through a better integration of incoming nursing students during their clinical placements. Nursing students will learn about intercultural competencies in nursing profession, and they will also familiarise themselves with the nurse's work, education and career possibilities in Finland and other project partner countries in Europe.

One of the aims of the Care for Europe MOOC is to describe nursing profession in four European countries (Finland, Spain, Hungary and France).

Completion alternatives

The project assignments can be tailored according to the students' individual interests and timetables.

Student workload

1 ECTS corresponds to 27 hours of the student's work.
The students' assignments can comprise 1 ECTS to 5 ECTS depending on their scope in the project.

Content scheduling

The students will test the pilot version of the Care for Europe MOOC on an elearning platform called ThingLink. One of the aims of the Care for Europe MOOC is to describe nursing profession in Finland and in other project partner countries. The students will also co-create within the Finnish project team pedagogical content to the MOOC, which will be built on 360-degree images of the nurse's work environments in project partner countries.
